Get a Poster from Little Chair Printing

We are proud to announce that a full stomach and a wide sampling of beer aren’t the only things you’ll be getting at S.E.E.D.!  We’ll be welcoming Little Chair Printing, a one-woman printing press operation who will be screen-printing S.E.E.D. logo posters for our guests on the spot.  You can watch the process as it happens, and even help out a little bit for a fun experience.

Little Chair also has the capability to print the logo on t-shirts, so in the name of sustainability (which is in our name), bring along one of your old t-shirts and she can put the S.E.E.D. logo on it, and you’ll be able to have an original souvenir from the first ever vegan food festival in Philadelphia.  Make something old new again with the help of Little Chair Printing!

SugarHouse Casino Event Center

Photos - The Event Center at SugarHouse Casino_Page_6

This week, we’d like to highlight the beautiful event space at SugarHouse Casino.  When some people think “casino” for a food event, it can seem a bit odd—crowded spaces, smoking areas, lots of continues beeps and boops and other loud noises don’t seem very conducive to sampling food and trying to engage with chefs and brewers.

Fortunately, S.E.E.D. will be hosted in SugarHouse’s new event center, which just opened in February.  The center itself, while attached to the casino, is completely separate.  The entire center is 30,000 square feet, with a 10,000 square foot banquet space, which is where S.E.E.D. will be occupied. And if it isn’t enough that the brand new space is gorgeously decorated, there are balcony views of the Ben Franklin Bridge and the Delaware River.

Best of all, though, may be that the event center has direct access from the casino’s free parking garage, making attending the event so much easier than most others.  And if you don’t have a designated driver, the event center is accessible any number of ways from public transit, not to mention SugarHouse’s own Sugar Express free trolleys.

If neither driving or the free trolleys are an option, you can get the Market-Frankford Line to the Spring Garden stop and pick up the 43 bus to Richmond-Cumberland, which stops directly in front of the casino.  Further public transit directions can be found on SugarHouse’s website, as well as schedules and stops for the Sugar Express.

Plan your route and rest easy knowing that getting to S.E.E.D. will be a breeze, and you’ll be able to sit back and enjoy hours of vegan eating, drinking, music, and more.  See you there!

Marketplace Focus: Luca Chiara

luca-cWhen most people think about being vegan, their mind turns to food only.  Animal products, however, are in every facet of life, and after food the most obvious one is clothing.  Michael Salerno of Luca Chiara, though, is here to help with that with his lines of un-leather accessories for men and women.  Believing that people should always choose cruelty-free products whenever possible, and given the fact that animal leather requires a tremendous amount of dyes, chemicals, and tints, Luca Chiara decided to go the vegan, sustainable route to help protect the animals as well as the planet.

Using a combination of water-resistant nylon, 100% cotton canvas, water-repellant rip-stop, and soft-grain vegan leather, Luca Chiara’s products are 100% vegan and PETA-approved.   Looking to integrate 19th century old-world quality with 21st century ingenuity, all of their wallets and passport cases include RFID blocking to help avoid identity theft from any of your cards with computer chips inside them.

Luca Chiara’s product line, which is split between men’s and women’s, encompasses everything from the aforementioned wallets and passport holders to mobile device sleeves, bags, and even shoes.  They all come in a range of colors and patterns, and their travel bags even have removable inserts—which not only allows for a range of color options, but also lets you wash the inside of the bag when necessary.

You’ll be able to check out Luca Chiara in the Marketplace at S.E.E.D., where they will have plenty of items for sale and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.  If you absolutely can’t wait, be sure to check out their website at (some of the shoes are on a pretty hefty sale right now).
